Prompt — Copy into ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini
Role: You are an expert management consultant specializing in Google-style OKRs and SMART goals.
Task: Translate a vague leadership mandate into 3 distinct Objectives. For each Objective, provide 3 measurable, SMART Key Results.
Context: My team is [describe your team]. The vague mandate from leadership is: "[insert mandate]". We have control over [list 2-3 things your team controls]. We do not control [list what you don't control].
Example of a good Key Result: "Reduce average ticket resolution time from 4 days to 2 days by Q3."
Example of a bad Key Result: "Resolve tickets faster."

Common mistakes for this role

Before you start using AI daily, avoid these traps that managers fall into:

  • Using AI to write generic performance reviews. Do not ask AI to "write a good review for Rajesh." It will invent generic corporate praise. Supply specific examples of Rajesh's behavior and ask AI to map it to your company's rubric.
  • Pasting un-anonymized employee data into free AI tools. If you are summarizing 360 feedback or peer reviews, sanitize the names and project details before feeding it to a public LLM.
  • Delegating empathy to a machine. Use AI to practice a tough conversation (via Voice Mode) or draft a talking track, but never read an AI-generated script word-for-word in a 1:1. Your team will know immediately.
